Welcome to a site devoted to the marvels of the Nokia 6650fold S60v3 Javaphone. The story is largely told by the following gallery of screencaptures from its QVGA display.

The 6650fold is the culmination of the Nokia Series 60 3rd Edition ("Symbian OS") technology. Created for T-Mobile (EU) & later withdrawn by AT&T (US), it is as little known in North America as the rest of the Nokia smartphone line including the N-series & the E-series. Yet it epitomises the multimedia multiprocessing Javaphone platform perfected by the worlds leading handset manufacturer, & runs hundreds of Java & Flash applications & games engineered during the first decade of the 21st century & freely aquirable over the internet. Available on eBay for under $50, it supports an 8G microsd expansion chip & interfaces effortlessly to Linux & Windoze systems via microusb. The 6650fold is not necessarily as useful on modern GSM networks as todays more trendy Android devices, but certainly runs dozens of versions of Tetris without a SIM chip onboard.

Despite its idiosyncratic keyboard, measly 2mp camera, & missing FM receiver (in the locked AT&T version), the Nokia 6650fold remains a highly customisable device. 3rd party routines can supply a robust filemanager, eliminate the artificial shutter noise, enable screencapture & implement themes. Legacy Java midlets lacking icons or not scaled for 240x320 can be retrofitted easily by adjustments to their jar archives & included manifests. Wallpapers & screensavers can be extensively tailored, the latter even including gif or flash animations.

Best of all, system administration is profoundly facilitated by the availability of Javaphone emulators such as Kemulator, SJboy, & the Java-based MicroEmulator. These enable proofing & reconfiguration of midlets under XP or Linux prior to physically installing downloaded routines to the phone. Of course this also allows this extensive catalogue of S60 Java programs to be executed on the desktop as well. Still, theres nothing like the feeling of a mobile video game resident on the handset itself running on the metal via the ARM 11 369mhz processor. Heres a few more examples.
